This deed made this thirteenth day of September in the year one thousand eight hundred & fifty six between George Dobbs and Henrietta his wife, Joseph Bowman & Eliza Jane his wife, George W. Bowman, Cecelia Bowman of the one part and Isaac B. Holmes of the other part.  Witnesseth that in consideration of three thousand eight hundred and forty three dollars, the said parties of the first part do grant with covenants of general warranty unto the said party of the second part, a certain tract or parcel of land situate in the County of Brooke in the State of Virginia on the Waters of Buffalo Creek said tract containing one hundred and twenty two acres being the same land which (unrecognizable word) to the said parties of the first part by the death and intestacy of Abraham Bowman decd and which was set off to said  heirs of law of said Abraham Bowman decd by decree of the Circuit Court of Brooke County rendered at the Spring term of said Court to which decree & proceedings had thereunder reference is hereby made for a more full & minute description of said laws.

And whereas Sarah Ellen Thompson, wife of Joseph Thompson, late Sarah Ellen Bowman, Caroline E. Bowman, Abraham Bowman are all minors & heirs at law of the said Abraham Bowman decd the said Joseph Bowman & Henrietta Dobbs covenant that each and all of the aforesaid minor heirs of said Abraham Bowman shall so soon as they become of full or lawful age make execute and deliver to said Holmes, deeds with (unrecognizable word) of general warranty for their respective interests on said tract or parcel of land aforesaid
