     The reason that there are Marshall's and Marshel's that seem tied together, with different spellings in the same family, is because they were in-law's. John Moore married Margaret J. Marshall. Her (Margaret's) sister, Mary Marshall married a Mr. Marshel (I don't know what his first name was) who owned the first mill on Buffalo Creek. John Moore owned the second. The Marshall's and Marshel's were not related (at least not that they were aware of).

     John Moore's wife is listed as Jane Moore on his will. He must have remarried, as his first wife, Margaret Marshall Moore died when their daughter Jane Moore was 14 years old. (From you attachment): "Will Book two page 60 John Moore - Names, wife Jane Moore." Do you know the year that John Moore died?

     The old letter I have states that after the death of Margaret Marshall Moore, that their daughter, Jane Moore (who later marred William Mayhall) (age 14) raised her younger brother, who was aged two (2) at the time. At the time of her death, Margaret Marshall Moore and John Moore had three (3) boys and (2) girls. Jane Moore was the oldest child. The other daughter's name was Sarah and she married William Baird. I don't have the names of the boys, but perhaps my mother does.

     Do the records still exist that have the land transfer where John Moore's mill was located? He purchased it from his father. His father's name may have been Robert Moore.

     A while ago I had seen (on the internet) some information on the Brooke County Cemetery. Has anyone in the area done any more research on the Brooke County Cemetery? Our ancestors purchased a lot (Section C, Lot 32). I am assuming that they or some of their family is buried there.
