     HOGG FAMILY GEORGE was born April 1, 1800, in Yorkshire, England. sailed from Liverpool, England, June 8, 1810; landed at Baltimore, Md. July 24, 1819 and came on at once to Brownsville, PA where he remained for about two years, working with John Snowden, at blacksmithing. When in England he was apprenticed to John Snowden's father, and served six years learning his trade. He and John Snowden came from England together. He married July 8, 1822, to Miss S S Richards, of Wheeling. Mr. Hogg left Brownsville and Moved to Wheeling in 1821, where he continued, business for himself in connection with blacksmithing, after he got able, he manufactured wagons and run extensive works for about fifteen years. On September 16, 1835, he purchased the farm where his son William now resides, and moved with his family to it, where he remained till his death, on July 11, 1875. He followed farming the latter part of his life. Reared a family of ten children, seven of whom are still living. He was a member of the M E Church for about fifty-five years. He owned at the rime of his death over 800 acres of land.
